Human Rights & Advocacy Work
In 2004, Dynamax Roberts served as Artist, Producer, and Co-Executive Producer on a politically focused music project centered on incarcerated journalist and former member of the Black Panther Party,
Mumia Abu-Jamal.
Abu-Jamal had been sentenced to death in 1982. His conviction became the subject of international legal appeals and human rights advocacy campaigns.
His death sentence was overturned in 2011 and converted to life imprisonment following decades of legal challenges and global activism.
Dynamax first became aware of the case through international supporters in Europe. A representative from the French organization
“Just Justice” initially approached him regarding music for a proposed documentary. Although that project did not proceed,
the experience inspired Dynamax to independently move forward with a musical initiative.Investing personal funds earned from DJ performances across Europe,
Dynamax helped develop and produce a compilation project designed to raise awareness and amplify international dialogue surrounding the case.
